A baby step of financial growth

A baby step financial towards a long journey of self.

Financial growth doesn’t mean that we became an expert overnight, understanding ourselves and patience is what we need to grow.

Understanding where we stand

As most of normal households where I grow up, there is no knowledge that are being passed on regarding personal finance other than savings from paycheck to the deposito. At early stage as we are focusing on generating the assets, it’s not on my plate to think regarding that. So when people saying things like stock or other risky assets, I am skeptical and afraid of it.

With time passing, a bit of knowledge are being digested. Start from fear, getting to know the fear and understanding what it is.

Starting out

At the booming of ecommerce, especially Tokopedia, there is a feature that I just know which is “Reksa Dana” and interested by that as the platform already familiar. So the feel of uncharted territory became less, seeing the graph that keep increasing steadily assure me more that this instrument looks worth to try.

This exposure that making me exploring my current investment vehicle characteristics, seeing each vehicle has their own tax calculation, risk and what is the investment composed of. Which deposito has a tax 20% while money market fund has tax 10%. The less tax, bigger interest rate than deposito, withdraw time in hours is what makes me want to try the RDPU in Tokopedia.

As always it’s a new thing, taking a big step I am still afraid of it, so starting from small amount of it, increase it each month and that what’s making me more confidence with it, but yeah it’s multiple years until absolutely confidence.

Moving

Shifting in how I think regarding financial growth from what is risky stock trading (still as of now hehe) and understanding there is so many investment vehicles that are compatible with our risk appetite and capability. Now continuing the journey, reinforce the strategy which not only by feeling but writing it out and reviewing each step that we take, which became not only financial journey but personal growth itself.
